Each year, the Town of Hinesburg receives numerous requests for funding
from social service agencies that serve the residents of our community. It is necessary to review, evaluate and prioritize
agency requests in order to maximize the value residents receive from the tax dollars appropriated.
The total amount of funds requested by agencies is typically greater than what the Selectboard feels can reasonably be
supported by tax dollars.
The mission of the Hinesburg Agency Request Review Committee is to establish a process for reviewing and evaluating funding
requests, and then utilize the process to create a funding recommendation to present to the Selectboard during the annual
budgeting process.
The Selectboard will consider the committee’s recommendation in preparing a budget to
present to voters.

The Hinesburg Selectboard will soon begin work on the
FY 2011-12 budget (July 1, 2011-June 30, 2012). Each year, the
Town of Hinesburg receives numerous requests for funding from agencies that provide social services to the residents
of our community.
We ask that each agency requesting funding complete the Agency Request Form (see below) in order for the Selectboard
and the taxpayers to have the information necessary to make informed decisions regarding the dispersal of the limited
funds available for this purpose. Please download the request form, fill it out, save it to your computer and return
it by attaching it to an email addressed to jwilson@gmavt.net. Please write
“Agency Request” in the subject line of the email.
Please return the completed form, along with any supporting documents, such as your annual report, you feel would be helpful
to the decision-making process. Documents should be in .doc or .pdf format. The Agency Request Form and supporting
documentation must be received by 4 pm on Friday, November 12, 2010.
Decisions are made with particular regard for the number of Hinesburg residents each agency serves.
If your agency received funding from the Town of Hinesburg last year, any increase in your request for this year will
need to be justified by either an increase in services to the Town or special circumstances.
If your agency has not previously received funding from the Town of Hinesburg, having a Hinesburg resident who can act
as an advocate for your agency, either to the Selectboard during the budget meeting on December 13, 2010 or at Town Meeting
on February 28, 2011, will be advantageous.
Agencies that do not submit the Agency Request Form will not be considered for funding.
To find out if your application has been approved and, if so, the amount of the appropriation, please call the Town
Administrator’s Office at 482-2096 after Town Meeting.
If an appropriation has been approved, funds will be available only after the beginning of the new fiscal year, July 1, 2011.
Please mail or email a request or invoice to the Town Administrator’s Office after that date in order to receive the funds.
