The Town
of Hinesburg has a Volunteer Fire Department that averages 30-35 active
members. The members are all volunteers from within the town, who
are very dedicated to serving the community in which they live as
Firefighters and First Responder/EMT's.
The Hinesburg Fire Department (HFD) covers all Fire, Medical, HAZMAT
and Heavy Rescue calls for the Town of Hinesburg and the Town of St.
George, as well as mutual aid to other surrounding towns as needed.
The HFD responds to approximately 300 calls per year. The HFD has
a First Response license with the State of Vermont which allows its
medically-certified members to respond to medical emergencies and
car accidents to treat patients while waiting for the responding ambulance.
The Town of Hinesburg does not have its own ambulance, which makes
the Department's first responders a very valuable asset to the community.
The HFD has devised a Strategic
Plan which includes the results of intensive surveys, a Vision
Statement, a Mission Statement and strategic objectives for the department.
This is a five-year plan that will be reviewed and updated on a yearly
basis.

Permits and Outside Burning.
