>> PLEASE NOTE: Eagle's Trail Remarking
Three Hinesburg Trails Committee members remarked a portion of the Eagle’s Trail in the Old Town Forest on Sunday,
June 27, 2010 from the Hayden Hill East Entrance heading south for the Economou Road entrance. Colin McNaull, Lenore Budd,
and Jane Sheldon made it to about the halfway point, covering the portion of the Eagle’s Trail most in need of remarking.
The Trails Committee wants to finish this entire south /north portion this summer.
The remarked section was done with blaze signs featuring a white reflective arrow on a bright red background square. The
remarking was done both south and north. A white “E” was put on each blaze to show that the blaze pertained to the
Eagle’s Trail.
This remarking should make this north/south section of the Eagle’s trail more user friendly in all seasons.
Hinesburg Village Walking Maps
Using Village sidewalks there are several walking tours.

Isham Road/Catchapaw Road Connector Link (Google Map Link)
This trail/path connects Silver Street and Baldwin Road should only be used by experienced hikers, walkers, runners,
mountain bikers, and riders and horses. If possible, go with a companion and let other people know where you are
going and when you expect to return - this is always good advice.
Trail is currently not blazed but has been recently reopened (this year’s plant growth has been pruned back) and
is self evident. Cell phone use is limited at best. Trail is approximately 1 mile from trailhead to trailhead and
takes about 30 minutes.
Trail, east to west has wet spots at the beginning. Continue west till you come to the point where you see the old
road bed veering to the right and then sloping down. Do not take this, especially if you are on a horse because you
and the horse will find yourself in dangerously deep mud. Instead, go left at the orange flagging and then down which
will avoid the mud. As you get near the center there may be standing water as you get close to the “stream”. This
“stream” is 1’ deep and 1’wide. Once across the stream, there is a short part that may have standing water till you
get to firm ground and then the trail is dry to Catchapaw Road.
Parking: You can park at the end of Isham Road or Catchapaw Road. Please do not block driveways.
Please contact Colin McNaull at 482-3347 if you have any questions or need more information.
