PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES

 

June 18, 2003

Commission Members Present: Jean Isham (Chair), George Bedard, Nancy Norris, Fred Haulenbeek, Joe Iadanza, John Buckingham, Carrie Fenn, Deb Howard.

 

Commission Members Absent: John Mace.

 

Also Present: Alex Weinhagen (Town Planner), Peter Erb (Zoning Administrator), Tom Lyman.

 

Minutes of the June 4, 2003 Meeting:

Deb MOVED to approve the June 4, 2003 meeting minutes.  John Buckingham SECONDED the motion.  The motion PASSED 8-0.

 

Announcements and Citizens to be Heard:

Alex and Carrie reviewed the very successful and enlightening Walkable Community Workshop that took place on June 5.  Alex will explore ways to bring one of the presenters back to Hinesburg for a community-wide slide presentation.  Alex, Carrie, and Jean reviewed the joint meeting with the Conservation Commission on June 9.  All 3 felt the Stream buffer video, “When Rivers Become Unstable”, was excellent.  Carrie provided 2 copies of the video for other Commissioners to view on their own.  Alex told the Commission that Shawn Lyman, from Iroquois Manufacturing, would attend the Commission’s July 16 meeting to discuss Iroquois’s desire to see the Industrial II Zoning District enlarged.

 

Zoning & Subdivision Bylaw Changes:

The Commission discussed draft 1 of the proposed Zoning and Subdivision Bylaw changes.  Peter Erb was present to provide feedback and suggest additional technical corrections.  Tom Lyman was also present to observe and provide feedback on section 5.2 of the Zoning Bylaw.  The Commission completed discussion of the Zoning draft through section 4.1.2.  There was also some discussion of section 5.2 regarding larger home occupations and cottage industries.  The Commission will continue its review at the next meeting.  Alex will make the recommended changes as the process proceeds.

 

Town Plan Revision Project:

The Commission discussed its summer schedule and the need to get started on the Town Plan revisions.  The first discussion on rural land use will take place at the July 16 meeting, after the Iroquois Manufacturing presentation.  Joe and Fred will lead prepare an outline for and lead this discussion.  Alex will finalize the rest of the Town Plan revision schedule after conferring with George, Jean, Nancy, and John Mace regarding assignments.

 

The meeting adjourned at approximately 10:30pm.
