Meeting Minutes, January 8, 2007

1. Minutes of December 11, 2006 meeting approved
2. Updates and Reports:
• Speed limits in the Village to be modified to 30 miles in the core between Mechanicsville Road and Friendship Lane. 40 MPH as approach on both ends.
• Increased traffic control suggested by use of Police staff and traffic speed indicator. Also check out Town website for information regarding Police info session held recently. Study Police report suggests need to increase police staffing in our community.
• Committee Vacancy filled with return of Karla Munson. Congratulations and thank you Karla.
• Village Growth Project Draft Report is underway by Planning Commission/staff.
• No word yet on response from Town Officials with regard to VSC positions on Village Growth.
• Report on VSC submitted to Town Report.
• Status of bridge across Canal north of Cheese Plant.
3. Design Standards discussed by the HVSC. Committee approved Rolf’s final draft and endorsed presentation of these suggestions to the Hinesburg Planning Commission. Rolf to present to the Commission within the next month.
4. HVSC also approved idea of studying the concept of a Center Road linking rear area of Lantmans to 116 in the area across the street from the Hinesburg Community School. Rolf was requested to present this idea to the School Board and the Planning Commission. The fields would continue to support athletic and community events and possibly provide an alternate route back on the route 116 further south.
5. The DRB is reviewing the Thistle Hill Project consisting of 59 residential units in single and multi family structures. Traffic engineer concluded no need for 4 way stop at Thornbush Road. Sidewalk proposed from Green Street to corner while saving trees along this route.
6. For next meeting discussion - Planning Commission is seriously considering idea of West Side Growth area and the HVSC should study this concept and provide feedback to the PC. HVSC members to analyze this concept prior to next meeting. Also discussion proposed on moving the war memorial to site adjacent to Town Hall.
7. Next meeting set for February 12, 2007 at 7 PM.
