Hinesburg Village Steering Committee

Meeting Minutes, February 12, 2007

 

Members present: George Dameron, Tracy Applin, Dona Walker, Rolf Kielman

 

Absent: Brian Busier, Donna Constantineau

 

1. Minutes of January 8, 2007 meeting approved

2. Updates and Reports:

·      Transportation update noted that design work on the Charlotte Road, Hinesburg Route 116 intersection is moving forward. Construction expected to start in July or August of 2007.

·      Affordable housing not discussed but discussion ongoing at the Planning Commission

·      Traffic control –noted that speed indicator has been in use in the Village.

·      Meeting on Police has been held and discussion regarding force size is ongoing.

·      Design Standards discussed with the Planning Commission. No real substantive response but George to refine draft and place with Planning Commission. Rolf to discuss possible visual/graphic examples with PC to assist in visualizing some of the proposed concepts.

·      Village Growth Project status discussed …. Draft with PC

3. Village recommendations by VSC related to architectural/historic guide. Rolf and George to proceed with this guide during 2007 with helop from St. Michaels College students. Check with Alex to determine existing documentation.

4. Monument relocation project also discussed briefly. Proposal is to move monument from 116 to location near Town Hall and corner of Charlotte Road.

5. VSC budget discussed. Monies to be utilized for photography for guide and/or monument relocation project and/or Village signage.

6. Village Master Plan in process. 

7. Announcements:

·      VSC annual report submitted for Town Report

·      Theater facility location discussed

·      Speed signs to be discussed at Town meeting

8. New business: Rolf restated the importance of a well designed and centrally located Village Green. Site behind Lantmans might present some difficulties but a long term view should be taken for a project like this.
