Hinesburg Village Steering Committee

Meeting Minutes, September 10, 2007

 

Members present: George Dameron, Donna Constantineau, Dona Walker, Rolf Kielman

 

Absent: Brian Busier, Tracy Applin, Karla Munson

 

1. Minutes of July 9, 2007 meeting approved

2. Updates and Reports:

·      Transportation update noted that construction work on the Charlotte Road, Hinesburg Route 116 intersection is moving forward.

·      Committee’s Annual Report issued. Please review.

3. Future Initiatives of the VSC discussed:

·      Preservation effort for older structures in the Village

·      Signage in collaboration with Rocky Martin

·      Traffic Flow issues in the Village (coordinate with Andrea Morgante)

·      Nature of commercial mix within the Village

·      Recommendations from the VSC regarding speed limits/traffic safety

·      Support from VSC for the implementation of an Official Map to guide the effective planning of the Village and Town. This map should designate locations for various public infrastructure such as a town green, farmers market, band shell, commuter parking, community center, fire station/police expansion etc.

4. Discussion regarding a guest speaker for preservation efforts.

5. St. Michael’s College student beginning work on the history and growth of significant buildings in the Village. Could establish a walking tour of the Village.

6. Terms of VSC Committee Members. Donna, Rolf and Karla 2008; George, Brian, Dona and Tracy 2007. Who wants to take on role of Chair and Secretary?

7. Concern expressed about “temporary signage” in Village area. Discuss with Peter Erb.
