∙Center Road report – led by Andrea Morgante. The process is pretty slow. General feelings were expressed that the Center Road would give more of a village feel to the village due to the in-fill. There was discussion about if the road should be one way or two way. Church traffic was also considered. Brian Busier felt that movement south was the direction that met the optimal need to move traffic along smoothly. He noted that a two way road would limit the space in the field. There was discussion about the public using the Lantman’s parking lot and infringing on that space. Andrea brought up the idea that all of the small town committees should get back together, that the Selectboard can facilitate this. That through the process of the all town committee meeting, there might be enough feed-back to take all the input from various designs, from multiple community forums to move us ahead. She also noted the strong connection of VSC to the Planning Commission but noted a need for VSC to connect with the DRB. George noted that the VSC has officially endorsed the concept of the Center Road.
∙The concept of the town map was discussed as a great tool to utilize the needs of the community and actualize our goals. Dona thought that the farmer’s market might want to move to a more optimal space. Andrea noted any design phase should be directed after the all town committee meeting.
∙George brought up the snow issues.
∙Andrea brought up the storm water issues and thought that it was more prudent for the town to manage this than for individuals to address multiple systems. It was noted that we might need a grant to help us actualize this goal. She also said that she would approach the Select board about VSC; the buy local/farmer’s market; recreation committee. Dona noted that in the last planning session a lot of nice work was done envisioning life for the Commerce Park area and that the town could develop multiple green sites with mixed usage.
∙Dona brought up moving the monument - the town hall or by the police station were discussed as possible sites. Also, enhancing the existing space with more benches; possible shifting of the pathways or sidewalks was also suggested. Andrea suggested looking at how the T intersection change at Silver Street will also affect the monument area.
