Hinesburg Village Steering Committee 

Meeting Minutes, December 11, 2007

Members present: George Dameron, Dona Walker, Aaron Kimball, Rolf Kielman

Absent: Brian Busier, Karla Munson, Donna Constantineau 

1. Minutes of November 2007ameeting not yet available

2. Current situation regarding Village Traffic flow issues:

Light at Charlotte Road and Route 116 in order and functioning

Suggestion to create formal lane designation for ease of turning on Charlotte Road

Encourage curbing throughout the village proper

Question regarding turning lanes at CVU intersection

Are lights along 116 being coordinated? Is traffic work in Hinesburg being handled on a piecemeal basis or actively coordinated?

Possible meeting with Selectboard and State Transportation engineers. Rolf to discuss issues with RSG.

What is the status and timing of Commerce Street light installation?

3. Status of Village Historic Structures Guide

St. Michaels College student, Mike Stefanowicz has begun his research and will proceed actively upon return to school in January of 2008. 

Anne Thomas of Ancient Roads Committee has database of historic buildings in Hinesburg Village. This listing of resources could be useful for Mike. 

Report/guide could include a historic walking tour of the Village.

4. Monument discussion held over to next meeting with Brian in attendance.

5. Transportation update from Karla at next meeting.

6. Village Growth Center status:

Let Planning Commission complete its work and then conduct town wide vote with focus on infrastructure improvements required to support implementation  of the Growth Plan

Development is coming … that development should provide a measure of support for infrastructure improvements.

VSC should continue to identify infrastructure improvements within the village such as Town Green, Bandstand, Market site etc.

Check on status of Community Center

Planning Commission ready to go to Selectboard

7. Status of Sidewalk along west side of 116 from Charlotte Road to Silver Street. This is a go slow project with issues of greenway and rights of way

Ask Jeannie Wilson about meeting with selectboard re this traffic corridor

8. Miscellaneous items:

- Aaron to suggest July 4 parade be held later in day to support evening activities

- Question regarding Green Street project and when it will commence construction

- Discussion regarding Village lighting in harmony and scale with Village

- What is happening with sidewalks and lighting when Commerce Street traffic light is installed?

- Signage: discuss with Rocky as regards cost … DRB approval required for Village entry signs.

- Check about website status. Aaron to talk with Jeannie.
