New Town Forest Planning Committee

MINUTES of September 18, 2008

Opening

The meeting of the New Town Forest Planning Committee was called to order at 7:30 pm on September 18, 2008 in the Town Hall by Kristen Sharpless.

Present

Kristen Sharpless (chair), Stewart Pierson, Matt Probasco, Andrea Morgante

Absent

Jean Isham, Paul Wieczoreck, Lenore Budd, Susan Mead

Planting Plan Update

Andrea updated committee members on the process of creating a planting plan. Some preparation work can begin this fall. Planting will then take place next spring. It was noted that the Corps of Engineers needs to approve the plan.

Wetland walk

A walk hosted by April Moulart from F&W and Gretchen Alexander from DEC will occur on Sunday September 21 from 3-5 pm. Details for this event were finalized.

Forest Walk

We confirmed that Mike Snyder will host a final forest walk on October 18 from 9-noon.

Public Forum

We confirmed that a public forum will be held on October 29 from 7-9 pm in the Hinesburg Community School cafeteria..

Stewart agreed to write a Record article letting people know about this event.

Andrea agreed to contact our conservation partners and ask representatives to attend so that they can participate, as well as be available to answer questions.

The meeting adjourned at 9:00 PM.
