Hinesburg Village Steering Committee

Meeting Minutes – September 16, 2008

Present: George Dameron, Rolf Kielman, Aaron Kimball, Karla Munson

Minutes of the August 11, 2008 meeting approved with minor changes

George Dameron gave a brief overview of his discussion with Selectboard on 9/15/2008. Rolf will attend the October 6^th Selectboard meeting and formally present comments from the Village Steering Committee on the proposed Village Growth Plan prepared by the Planning commission.

The committee discussed George’s suggestion that Hinesburg erect signage requesting that trucks entering Hinesburg Village not utilize engine breaks. The committee agreed with this suggestion and this will be forwarded to the Selectboard. Other communities utilize such signage to apparent good effect. George will write a letter to the Select Board on behalf of the Committee and meet with them as well.

VSC priority items for 2008-2009 were discussed with following priorities established:

    – Collaboration with the Hinesburg Historical Society in the creation of guided tour of Historic structures in the Village area

    – Continued focus on pedestrian amenities such as sidewalks, signage, benches, bike racks, landscaping/Village planting plan and pedestrian scale lighting.

    – Focus on accessibility for all within the Village area

    – Village entry signs and VSC committee support for the improvements to the monument at the corner of 116 and Silver Street

    – Support the Planning Commission in the creation of an Official Map

The VSC will continue with Aaron Kimball as recording secretary and Rolf functioning as chair.

Dona Constantineau will require replacement on the committee. Suggestions are welcome.
