Discussion about Select board meeting RK attended
RK will contact Rocky Martin. re: getting line item budget items on current budget for sidewalks, signage, benches, bike racks, landscaping/Village planting plan, and pedestrian scale lighting.
Discussion about enforcing the 30 mph speed limit in the Village. Too often vehicle traffic is in excess of the posted limit. The suggestion was to have the VSC draft a letter to the Police Department (with a copy sent to the Selectboard) officially going on record asking for better enforcement of the speed limit.
Discussed the upcoming year's VSC priorities list. Appointed a lead person for the following items:
–AK: Collaboration with the Hinesburg Historical Society in the creation of guided tour of Historic structures in the Village area
–GD: Continued focus on pedestrian amenities such as sidewalks, signage, benches, bike racks, landscaping/Village planting plan and pedestrian scale lighting. and Focus on accessibility for all within the Village area
–DW: Village entry signs and VSC committee support for the improvements to the monument at the corner of 116 and Silver Street
–RK: Support the Planning Commission in the creation of an Official Map
–KM: Lead person for Hinesburg Rides. Will also assist GD and DW.
Pedestrian scale lighting is needed throughout the village. Are grants available? RK will discuss with Town Admin Jeanne Wilson
What is the status of the funding of the sidewalk from Charlotte road to school? RK to discuss with JW.
What is the VSC's priority list of sidewalks to be completed? A prioritized list does exist. This needs a second look. TBD at next meeting.
RK to inquire on the status of the recreation path on Mechanicsville Road.
Meeting adjourned at 7:55 p.m.
