Hinesburg Affordable Housing Committee

Meeting Minutes - July 1, 2009

Committee Members Present: Rocky Martin, Carl Bohlen, George Bedard, Bruce Wheeler, Andrea Brainard, Dale Wernhoff.

Also Present: David Carse

The meeting came to order at approximately 7:10 PM.

David Carse Project: David Carse discussed his development plan. (For background info see previous minutes at hinesburg.org/ahc.html). He would like to provide as many affordable units as possible, with help from Housing Vermont or the Champlain Housing Trust (CHT). David wanted to know if CHT had a quality threshold. Double wides would not meet their requirements but modular homes would.

Bart Frisbee Development: Bart Frisbee, the developer of the Thistle Hill Neighborhood east of Mechanicsville Road, talked about his development with Rocky. Bart’s plan includes 32 units of senior housing. He is interested in talking to Cathedral Square Corporation (CSC) to see if they can form a partnership. CSC “is a non-profit organization that owns and manages communities for seniors” per their web site.

Agency Interaction: Brief discussion of how the Vermont State Housing Authority, Champlain Housing Trust, Housing Vermont, Cathedral Square Corporation, etc, all interact.

The meeting was adjourned at approximately 8:30 PM.

Next Meeting – September 2nd – Look into getting Bart Frisbee and Cathedral Square Corporation to come to a future meeting. Also see about getting Brett Grabowski, the developer of the Creekside Development, to come in to see if the AHC can help with the master plan behind his proposed Kinney Drugs store site (at the northwest corner of Route 116 and Farmall Drive).

Note: There will be no meeting on August 5th.

Respectfully submitted,

Dale Wernhoff
