New Town Forest Planning Committee

MINUTES of February 12, 2009

Opening

The meeting of the New Town Forest Planning Committee was called to order at 7:30 pm on February 12, 2009 in the Town Hall by Kristen Sharpless.

Report on Recruiting New Members

We welcomed Kate Tarkington to join our committee. She will replace Susan in the role of secretary for the time being.

Lenore reported that she invited Bob Gagliuso to join us, but that he declined.

Kristen reported that she has not yet heard from Lisa Godfrey, but will try to speak to her before our next meeting.

Andrea spoke with Tanya Jones, who expressed some interest. Andrea will follow up with her.

Planting Plan Update

Nancy Patch, Franklin and Grande Isle County Forester, will visit Hinesburg on March 11 to meet with Andrea, Mike Snyder and other available committee members to discuss the proposed planting plan and to visit the site. Everyone will meet at Andrea’s house at 2pm, then travel to the TF. Nancy has been sought out since she has extensive experience with this kind of work and oversaw the implementation of a similar planting and restoration project in Franklin County.

Review of Recreation Section of Management Plan

Members began the review of the draft section complied by Lenore and Stewart. Lenore will incorporate comments and changes. We will continue discussion of the section at our next meeting.

Next Meetings

We agreed that we would resume meeting regularly on the first and third Thursdays of the month from 7:30-9:00PM. The next meeting will be on March 5, 2009.

The meeting adjourned at 9:00PM.
