Recreation Commission Meeting Minutes

Dec. 2008 Planning Commission Meeting Report

Frank attended Dec. Planning Commission Meeting that discussed proposed Town Map.  Several property owners whose land would be impacted by proposed future Recreation Field plans also attended the meeting.  Please refer to Planning Commission minutes of 12/17/08 for additional information regarding discussion around Official Town Map and proposed Recreation Fields.

Rec. Fields are incorporated in Town Plan and Planning Commission supports this. Having more/sufficient recreation field availability in one central location continues to be a long-term goal of the Recreation Commission.  

Several property owners whose land would be impacted by future plans attended.    

Some owners were unhappy about being told how their land will be used.    

Wayne Bissonette’s property is in proposed Rec. Field Area.  He invited soil testing.

Winter Carnival – Feb. 14

Hinesburg Nursery School Waffle Breakfast & Silent Auction in HCS Cafeteria 8-11 am.

Dessert Cabaret @ 7:00 pm in HCS Gym.  Tickets on sale at Rec. Dept. - $10 each.

Events – dog sled rides, snowmobile rides, face painting, dog show, ice-skating & broomball, snowman building contest, sledding, a few of Tom’s surprises.

Owner of Bookies food cart (Dave Stoll) will sell food and donate proceeds to Rec. Dept. & HCS. 

Tom G. arranged for UVM & SMC dance teams to perform in HCS gym at noon.

Not sure if 4-H will do food in warming hut.

Chris expresses concern about exhaust from snowmobile during dog sled rides.  After discussion, decide to keep both activities’ location and schedule and evaluate for next year.

Jen gives background on Winter Carnival and invites new organizer/committee for next year’s planning.
