Approved October Meeting Minutes

July 4th Discussion

Frank committed to drafting a letter/correspondence for the Record or Front Porch Forum looking for people to form a committee that would formulate ideas and ways to keep people in town after the parade and into the Fire Station’s BBQ event.  He will get to this at some point.

Other groups that might like to be involved?

Do we have a theme or idea?

Tom volunteered to spearhead this effort and to come up with activies.

Winter Carnival

Saturday, February 13, 2010 is the Winter Carnival date.

No Cabaret Event this year.  Organizers decided that they would do the performance/event every other year to keep it fresh and develop new material.

Proposed a Winter Carnival Dance for adults at Town Hall with a band from 7-10 pm.

Contact a band to perform from NESTECH Concert Series – Sister French?

Admission would be free or bring a canned item to benefit Food Shelf.

Committed to keep these events free.

Proposed a Kid’s Event at HCS from 7-9 pm.  A movie in the cafeteria for youngsters and skating on the rink with a DJ for the older kids.

Inclement weather for the rink activity would result in moving DJ into HCS Gym for a dance.

Contact CVU Key Club for volunteers to run Kid’s Night.

Contact various groups who could sell food and drinks for a fundraiser.

Reviewed Site Visits from 10/30 with Hartford Parks & Rec. Dir. Tad Nunez

Out of 4 sites – Baptist Lot, Lyman/Creekside parcel, Bissonette parcel, and Frost parcel by P.O. decided it was between Baptist Lot and Lyman/Creekside parcel.

Tad like the Baptist Lot.  Other members favored Creekside parcel due to large, flat size and location in village, just off Rte. 116.

Next step is to schedule a meeting with Select Board to report findings and ask for approval to pursue purchasing land/parcel.
