Meeting Minutes

July 13, 2009

Present: George Dameron, Rolf Kielman, Aaron Kimball, Karla Munson, Jane Starkweather, Dona Walker

Meeting called to order at 7:05 p.m. - Town Hall

1) Discussed walking tour notes from last month meeting

1. Improvements to Memorial Park at the intersection of 116 and Silver Street

2. Sidewalk extensions to link existing sidewalks to each other (completing the network)

3. Interior path from Lantman's to Papa Nick's near the recreation field

4. Curbing and sidewalk improvements along the east side of 116 in the center of the Village.

5. Landscaping, benches and lighting throughout the Village

6. Drainage culvert on south side of Charlotte Road at Route 116 to be repaired

7. Brainstorming ideas for the space behind Town Hall from Charlotte Road to (and including) Saputo area

2) VSC is interested in pursuing improvements at Memorial Park / War Memorial on Route 116 at Silver Street.

3) Lions Club. clock designs presented at their last meeting. Two clock designs presented - a stand alone and a building mounted design.

4) Signage. town line signs need to be replaced on Shelburne Falls Road and Silver Street. There is a also a need to have "no engine brakes" signs posted on roads leading into the Village. Locations include: North and South bound on Route 116, Shelburne Falls Road, Silver Street, Charlotte Road, and Mechanicsville road.

5) Route 116 crosswalks need to be re-painted at HCS, Charlotte Road, and Commerce Street.

6) The crosswalk time at Charlotte Route and Route 116 needs to be lengthened to accommodate the amount of time it actually takes to cross both Route 116 and Charlotte Road with one press of the cross button.

7) VSC to draft a letter to the Selectboard. re: drainage issue on Charlotte Road, Engine Brake signs, and town line signs.
