Meeting Minutes

September 14, 2009



Present: Rolf Kielman, Aaron Kimball, Karla Munson, Dona Walker, Jane Starkweather


Meeting called to order at 7:06 p.m. - Town Hall

1. Reviewed and approved meeting minutes from July 2009 meeting.


2. Review and discussion regarding August 17, 2009 Selectboard letter to the VSC.


3. Discussion of membership and roles of committee members. Chair, recording secretary and possible new members. Item tabled and to be considered at next meeting.


4. Possible work activities for the VSC during 2009-2010:

         1) Possible course of action with regard to possible improvements to Memorial Park

- possible grant money available?

         2) Town entry signs

- possible grant money available?

         3) Town clock with the lion's Club

- idea has been presented to the lion's club

         4) Continued pedestrian improvements as outlined in the minutes of our July meeting

- possible grant money?

         5) Guide to the history and buildings of the Hinesburg Village area

- project still in the works

         6) improvements to the canal system

- will continue to press for improvements.

         7) Advocate for a Town Green


It was suggested that emphasis to be placed on items 1, 5, and 7 for the upcoming year.


5. Status of Saputo property

-No recent specific activity as of late. The property is on the market.


6. Location of farmer's market. 

- The conversation about creating a town green includes ideas for many activities to take place there. The Farmer's Market is one of those events that might benefit from a permanent town green to be established.
