Hinesburg Affordable Housing Committee

Meeting Minutes

March 3, 2010

Committee Members Present: Rocky Martin, Andrea Brainard, Carl Bohlen, Kellie Stoll, Bruce Wheeler, Dale Wernhoff.

Also Present: Peter Richardson, John Ryan (via phone)

The meeting came to order at approximately 7:05 PM.

Housing Needs Assessment: Peter Richardson of Housing Strategies, Inc. joined us in person and John Ryan of Development Cycles joined us by phone to discuss their response to the Request For Proposal that we sent out in January. They proposed to team up in a joint venture to provide the assessment. We spent about 40 minutes in a give and take question and answer session going over what information the HAHC is hoping to gain from the assessment and what Peter and John could provide for the funds we have available. After our conversation the HAHC agreed to recommend to the Select Board that Peter and John provide the assessment.

Minutes: Reviewed 12/16/09 minutes. Rocky moved to approve; Andrea seconded.

Town Plan Language: We reviewed Carl’s paragraph referring to the HAHC for the Town Plan that was requested last month by Alex Weinhagen (Hinesburg Director of Planning and Zoning). Some minor revisions were made. Carl will provide a final version for submittal to Alex.

CVOEO/UVM: Kellie will call or email Dan Baker and/or Kelly Hamshaw, both of UVM, to follow up on our 10/19/09 meeting with them regarding their mobile home park surveys in town. She’ll also try to schedule them to attend our next meeting.

The meeting was adjourned at approximately 8:30 PM.

Next Meeting –

April 7th – Potentially meet with research project members from the Champlain Valley Office of Economic Opportunity and the Department of Community Development and Applied Economics at the University of Vermont to discuss their reports on the mobile home parks in Hinesburg.
