Town of Hinesburg

Planning Commission Meeting

September 8, 2010

Approved - September 22, 2010

Members Present: Carrie Fenn, Johanna White, Ray Mainer, Joe Iadanza, Jean Isham, Bob Linck, Tim Clancy

Members Absent: Tom Ayer

Also Present: Alex Weinhagen (Director of Planning/Zoning), Mary Seemann (Recording Secretary), John Roos, Wendy Patterson

Jean I called the meeting to order at 7:33 p.m.

Saputo: There is no word yet on whether Redstone has purchased the property. The Commissioners talked about breaking the property into three different zones: Village District, Industrial 3 District and Village Center District, and to get permanent zoning for each in place.

There was another discussion on the parking issues; where more parking could be made and how much extra parking would be needed. This led to a discussion on the types of businesses they would like to see in this location. It was suggested that in the permanent zoning they list the types of businesses that would be acceptable for the property versus listing what wouldn’t be. If it were not on the list it could be assumed it was not an acceptable type of business, also there would be no omitting something important. They agreed that Redstone is going to get companies that will fill and use the area(s) so not to be too strict on what they would like in there. The Commissioners all agreed that a slaughter house would not be allowed.

The Commissioners talked about holding public hearings for the permanent zoning, and they asked Alex W if he would take what they had discussed and write up a draft for them to review at the next meeting.

Minutes of August 28th: Jean I entertained a motion to accept the minutes as amended. Carrie F seconded. Tim C abstained. A vote was taken. 6-0 - The Motion Passed

Other Business:

Triple L Mobile Home Park is for sale. Last night the tenants held a meeting with Addison County Community Trust, a non-profit organization who is interested in buying the park. No word on that outcome.

After many years of giving his time to the town, Will Patten has given his resignation from the Planning / Zoning Board to the Selectboard. The Commissioners would like to thank him for all his help, time, and friendship – he will be truly missed. This will now leave an opening on the Planning / Zoning Board.

Next Planning Meeting: September 22, 2010.

Respectfully submitted,

Mary Seemann

(Recording Secretary)
