Meeting Minutes

February 8, 2010

Members Present: George Dameron, Rolf Kielman, Aaron Kimball, Karla Munson, Jane Starkweather, Dona Walker

Members Absent: Brian Busier

Meeting called to order at 7:01 p.m. - Town Hall

1. Discussion about meeting jointly next month with the Recreation Commission. Joint meeting to be Tuesday, March 9, 2010. Joint meeting is called to bring the two committees together in an effort to compare notes and discuss issues and strategies that concern both committees.

2. Saputo update. RK updated VSC to the latest news from the Saputo Redevelopment Committee. The January 18, 2010 selectboard minutes details the committee's latest report to the Selectboard. In brief - the property is still on the market, the committee is still actively pursuing development opportunities that would restore the lost jobs and tax base, and the committee outlined the three possible scenarios they see for the property. 

3. January 2010 minutes approved with minor revisions.

4. Report from the Lions Club meeting.

5. Sidewalks. Discussion about putting a dollar amount on each of the sidewalk pieces on the VSC priority list. This in an effort to show how much money is needed in order to better complete the village's sidewalk network. There was also discussion about how to make sidewalk construction happen a bit faster. GD to followup with Rocky as to the status of the west side route 116 sidewalk.

6. Commerce Park discussion. Walking tour was recently conducted by members of the VSC in this area. A summation will be written and forwarded to the Selectboard. As the year progresses others possible places in the village will be looked at and an action plan proposal will be forwarded to the Selectboard later in the year.
