Meeting Minutes

November 8, 2010

VSC Members Present: Michael Buscher, Rolf Kielman, Aaron Kimball, Jane Starkweather, Dona Walker

VSC Members Absent: Brian Busier, George Dameron

1) Next Meeting Planning. Photo slide show planned. Bring your favorite photos to share of public spaces that demonstrate positive aspects of what we might like to create here in town. All ideas are welcome. No idea is too far-fetched.

2) "Hinesburg Village founded 1792" Sign Update. DRB review is scheduled for the November 16th meeting. Rolf will meet with Karla and George Munson to discuss a specific location for the placement of the southern sign on Route 116. We had previously discussed the placement of the Northern sign to be at the site of the future Kinney Drugs. Discussion in the group tonight has moved the sign to the lot across from Riggs Road. More followup on this location is to be done.

3) Lot 1 Discussion. Aaron gave an update on the the work being done at Lot 1 at Creekside. Broadleaf Landscape Architecture has been retained to conduct a master plan feasibility analysis and preliminary engineering study of Lot 1. Public meetings to follow next month.

4) Selectboard Budget Meeting. The VCS adjourned and as a group we joined the Selectboard budget meeting taking place downstairs. The VSC feels strongly about completing the sidewalk link that is missing from Hart & Mead to Papa Nick's. We joined other citizens on this matter as we spoke to the Selectboard and urged them to find the funds in this year's budget to complete this stretch of sidewalk as soon as possible.
