Village Steering Committee
Meeting Minutes
October 10, 2011
VSC Members Present: Michael Buscher, George Dameron, Rolf Kielman, Aaron Kimball, Jane Starkweather, Dona Walker
VSC Members Absent: one seat vacant
Meeting called to order at 7:00 p.m., Hinesburg Town Hall
1. Discussion of Vacant Position on VSC. Further outreach will continue among current members to prospective members list.
2. Meeting Minutes: Minutes of September 12, 2011 approved.
3. Election of VSC Chairperson. Dona was elected by the group as chair of the VSC for one-year term.
4. Select Board. VSC chair will speak with town administrator Joe Colangelo to schedule time in the near future to come before the Select Board to report on VSC activities and priorities for the coming year.
5. Sidewalk Update. Michael B. reports that he spoke to Building and Facilities Director Rocky Martin about getting the Hart and Mead to Papa Nick's sidewalk section and crosswalk to the school property completed this year. The school has stopped this project for the time being. They feel that there is not enough room for the busses to pull out of the school driveway if a crosswalk was put in at this spot. Further review needs to happen to determine where a crosswalk will be placed before this sidewalk can happen.
Rocky is optimistic that three sidewalk projects will be completed in 2012:
1. Charlotte Road to Silver Street and to the HCS
2. Hart and Mead to Papa Nick's
3. Recreation path along Mechanicsville Road to CVU High School
6. Hannaford Discussion. Rolf has talked with DRB chair Tom McGlenn. Rolf advised Tom that the VSC would like to speak to the DRB before the public comment session closes. This may happen at the next meeting on November 15 or a DRB meeting in December. Tom will reserve time for VSC comments.
Rolf proposed that as a group we all take an aspect of the project and write up a report / bullet point list to forward to George and Rolf. They will compile individual reports and synthesize a report from the VSC on the Hannaford proposal.
