Hinesburg residents have long valued our farms,
forests and open land. These attributes give our community a rural,
small-town character and its beauty.
A Farm and Forest Conservation Task Force was established as the result
of a town-wide effort led by the Vermont Council of Rural Development
(VCRD) and embraced by hundreds of Hinesburg citizens and leaders.
The purpose of this committee is to attempt to leverage the community's
interest in maintaining the viability of farm and forest land in the
Town by researching, developing and providing resources of value to
landowners.
The Farm and Forest Conservation Task Force:
is a volunteer task force comprised of farmers, landowners and
interested citizens
has an overall interest in helping owners maintain and increase
land in Hinesburg in sustainable farm and forestry uses
will actively assist landowners to meet their goals as long as
these goals help to keep land in farm and forestry uses
will work to achieve these goals in ways that are compatible with
landowners' goals, first, and, second, to further the general goals
of the town
