Housing Needs Assessment – Hinesburg, Vermont

SEE BOTTOM OF PAGE FOR LINKS TO THE ASSESSMENT

Hinesburg's most recent housing needs assessment was completed in June 2023 by staff at the Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission in coordination with the Hinesburg Affordable Housing Committee.

The assessment examines the needs for rental and homeownership housing for families, seniors, and those with special needs.  The purpose of the assessment is to assemble and interpret information that will guide town policies, as well as other public and private actions, that address unmet housing needs. The assessment presents data and analysis of current housing conditions in the context of demographic, economic, and development trends, and attempts to place Hinesburg in its context within Chittenden County and Vermont as a whole.

Prior Hinesburg housing needs assessments were completed by consultants in March 2010 and December 2017.  Regional and statewide housing needs assessments have also been completed by other entities - e.g., VT Agency of Commerce and Community Development & VT Housing Finance Agency (2020); Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission (2012).
